The life compass and the eternal navigator

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word” (Psalm 119: 9).

There is a strong connection between the word of God and the way of God. No man can faultlessly walk in the way of God who does not have the knowledge of the word. It is the word of God that guides man to know and do His will.

This is confirmed in Jesus' declaration that, “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself” (John 7: 17). Similarly, the cleansing potency of the word prepares the soul of man for a right walk with God. The word of God has the power to cleanse your ways if you take heed to follow its precepts.

As a child of God, the word must take a high premium in your life. It should be the first bread that you take very early in the morning and the last meal before retiring to bed. Learn to read the Bible passionately, purposefully, prayerfully and patiently. Read the word with understanding. Read it with deep meditation. Let it make meaning to you as you read. Study it with your entire mind. Read the Bible with rapt attention and full concentration. Ruminate on the word everyday and let the word of God be a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path (Psalm 119: 105).

Challenge: It is profitable to feast on the manna from heaven.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the understanding of your words as I study the Bible daily.
